The NHL announced on Monday the debut of a brand new live band aid to help players recover from concussion-related injuries, with the Pittsburgh Penguins’ Brand New band aid featuring Tommi Smith.
The band aid features a “Cup of Blue” t-shirt, with a logo inspired by the Stanley Cup logo, as well as an NHL puck.
It will be available at select arenas for the upcoming 2017-18 season, with tickets priced at $60.
The new band aid was developed by Pittsburgh Penguins head coach Mike Sullivan.
The band aid will be worn at all times during a game and during practice and will be a part of the team’s “Team Health” initiative, according to a statement from the team.
The team is hoping that the new band aids will help players and teams recover from head injuries in the coming months, as concussion-associated injuries continue to mount in the NHL.
The Pittsburgh Penguins are a member of the NHL’s Team Health initiative.
The initiative is designed to improve the health of athletes through sports-specific wellness initiatives.
